2.Sciatica pain- when the muscles tighten around these nerves in your lower back the pain can be overwhelming. If you have every suffered from this you know what I am talking about. The language of flowers has been with us since ancient times. The earliest tradition of using flowers to convey messages was found in ancient Persia and Japan. If you are using fresh medicinal herbs, boil the water over the stems and leaves for a few minutes. If you have dried your herbs, pour boiling water over one teaspoon of dried herb.

To make a tea with the roots, bark, or seeds of the herb, put one teaspoon of the dried herb per cup of tea into a glass or enamel pan. Add the water and boil for about fifteen minutes. Homemade candle making has come a long way in the past decade. I remember when I was a child, we used to make candles using a 1/2 gallon milk container. We'd fill it up with ice and pour melted candle wax in. After it had set, we'd peel off the milk carton and you'd have a very interesting homemade candle. It kind of looked like, frozen colored ice.

Nowadays with places like Micheal's Crafts, and other large craft stores, the home crafter has access to a plethora of tools. There are different types of candle wax so that homemade candle making has gotten to be much easier than in the past. You can purchase metal and poly molds or you could actually use any jar that you like. All you have to do is fill it with the candle wax and a wick.

A very inexpensive way to do your homemade candle making, is to go to your local dollar store and purchase different glass votive or glass jars, actually any glass container can be used as candle making jars. Here is a quick overview of how to make a glass jar candle. The main thing here is to use your imagination.
Almost any glass jar can be used to make candles. Tall , thin, short, fat whatever. If you are using various colored waxes the tall clear jars make a beautiful impression. Just make sure you have plenty of clearance between the burning wick and glass so it does not get to hot and break. For more information on this visit the web site at the bottom of this article.

So to do your own homemade candle making, you'll need a crock pot or double boiler to melt the wax to 160 degrees. Then you can add scented oils and food coloring. Put a dot of glue on the bottom of the metal part of the wick and place it in the candle making jars. Then pour the melted wax into the candle making jars or glass containers that you've purchased. Let the wax cool to a semi-hardened crust and then you can straighten out the wicks and get it centered. Let the candle cool at room temperature completely, which will be about 6-8 hours.

You'll see that the wax has sunken a little in the middle. Now you are going to re heat the leftover wax to about 185 degrees and pour some in to your jar to level it off. Let that cool again and trim your wick to about a quarter inch, and you now have your very own homemade jar candle.

The possibilities are endless; you can use any type of glass containers for your candle making jars that you like, so let your imagination go wild! Have fun with it!

Guinea pigs are herbivores and grass is their natural diet. Herbivores require a lot of vitamin C because they cannot make their own. Unlike other mammals that synthesize their own vitamin C guinea pigs get their daily requirement from raw fruits and vegetables or through dietary supplements.

Hay is an important part of a guinea pigs diet. Hay serves two important purposes. It is high in fiber which aids in digestive system health. A guinea pigs teeth grows constantly, their molars are used for grinding plant matter, a good supply of hay should be available at all times to help keep their teeth trim.

Oxbow Cavy Cuisine pellets are good for adult guinea pigs. They are high in fiber, have a balanced calcium to phosphorus ratio, and are fortified with stabilized vitamin C. However, they are not recommended for guinea pigs under 6 months old. Timothy Hay and Cavy pellet mix is good guinea pig food, but your guinea pigs diet should also include leafy greens, raw vegetables and fresh fruits.

Vegetables and herbs that are safe: Kale, collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, romaine lettuce, spinach, peas, celery, carrots, parsnip, parsley and basil. Red or green bell peppers are a good source of vitamin C; cucumbers and asparagus have a high water content.

Fruits that are safe: Apples, oranges, cantaloup, grapefruit, guava, honeydew melon, kiwi, mangoes, tangerines, and strawberries. Always remove any seeds. Introducing your guinea pig to new food should be done slowly because of their sensitive digestive system. Always watch for any digestive changes before gradually increasing the amounts.

Unsafe foods: Potatoes, onions, radish, wild mushrooms, iceberg lettuce, rhubarb, rhubarb leaves, and tomato leaves. These foods may cause toxicity or digestive problems. Homemade candle making has come a long way in the past decade. I remember when I was a child, we used to make candles using a 1/2 gallon milk container. We'd fill it up with ice and pour melted candle wax in. After it had set, we'd peel off the milk carton and you'd have a very interesting homemade candle. It kind of looked like, frozen colored ice.

Nowadays with places like Micheal's Crafts, and other large craft stores, the home crafter has access to a plethora of tools. There are different types of candle wax so that homemade candle making has gotten to be much easier than in the past. You can purchase metal and poly molds or you could actually use any jar that you like. All you have to do is fill it with the candle wax and a wick.

A very inexpensive way to do your homemade candle making, is to go to your local dollar store and purchase different glass votive or glass jars, actually any glass container can be used as candle making jars. Here is a quick overview of how to make a glass jar candle. The main thing here is to use your imagination.
Almost any glass jar can be used to make candles. Tall , thin, short, fat whatever. If you are using various colored waxes the tall clear jars make a beautiful impression. So to do your own homemade candle making, you'll need a crock pot or double boiler to melt the wax to 160 degrees. Then you can add scented oils and food coloring. Let the wax cool to a semi-hardened crust and then you can straighten out the wicks and get it centered. Let the candle cool at room temperature completely, which will be about 6-8 hours.

You'll see that the wax has sunken a little in the middle. Now you are going to re heat the leftover wax to about 185 degrees and pour some in to your jar to level it off. Let that cool again and trim your wick to about a quarter inch, and you now have your very own homemade jar candle.

What a question, do black roses exist? Some say they are secretly being grown in Europe or a secret place in Asia. Most say no, but a few say yes. There is a rose that has been around for a lot of years called the black rose. It is a deep red color . Black roses (roses of a pure black color) do not exist in nature as far as we know.
In reality no pure black flowers of any kind exist, that we know of yet. The so-called “black tulip” is actually very dark purple . Many people confuse the two. The Black tulip is very dark , and from a little distance it does look black. Upon a close examination you see its true color.
Rose growers have been trying to grow a darker rose almost black for many years, but as far as the rose world knows , no one has succeeded.
Fake black roses, can be produced in a couple of ways. Florists can make them by using floral paint on darker roses. They are painted to look black. Also another way is to use a special treatment with special dyes and powdered flower preservative. You mix together the preservative, food coloring and water and put it in a jar. Only fill the jar an inch or two in the bottom so you have a strong black color. After being in the jar a few days , it will soak up the dye and you will have a "black rose".
As I have said the mystery of the black rose continues. Even with the hand made varieties the meaning seems to be various. When I think of these roses, I think of bad things or death. All around the world it has different meanings in different cultures. This mystical flower is mostly associated with dark forces. But the myth still lives on today. Shrouded by more mystery and intrigue.
Some day in the future we may see a man made black rose. It could be on the horizion, but as now there, have been no true black rose breakthroughs in creating one. The roses with "Black" in their names are just a “name”, since the real black rose is really a deep red.
The Black Baccara Rose is a hybrid tea rose, and is perfect for a cut flower. Like all the black red roses, their flowers are more black looking before they are fully opened. These are some of the darkest natural roses you can find.
They appear to be more black in cool or cold weather. So if you live someplace a little colder your roses would appear darker most of the time.

Caring for roses is often said to be a very difficult task, as roses are rumored to require special attention and maintenance. However, by learning some of the basics of caring for roses, it is possible to grow rosebushes with full, beautiful flowers that all of your neighbors and guests will envy.

Caring for roses begins with careful planting. Roses can be planted any time from spring until autumn. However, it is advised to plant your roses earlier in the spring or summer so that they can establish a firm root base before the soil hardens during the colder winter months. The best soil for planting roses is a dense gardening soil that ranges in pH from a 5.0-7.0. It is also beneficial to have good compost on hand in order to improve drainage and airflow. Good compost will also help retain essential elements in the soil that will help your rosebushes thrive.

Before planting rosebushes, soak the roots in water overnight. The next day, remove any dead-looking or broken roots, as this will promote the best nutrient flow to the plant. Dig wide holes in the ground that will allow you to gradually build a strong soil system for the plant. Remember that roses require at approximately six hours of sunlight a day, so plant the rosebushes in a spot that will receive adequate light. After you have dug your holes, place each individual plant in the center of the hole and surround it with a conical mound of soil to ground the plant.

Continue to fill the hole with soil until it is about two thirds full. Water the soil around the base of the plant until you have created a muddy slush. Allow the water to drain, continue to fill the hole, then water and drain again. The plant may sink slightly during this initial watering process – this is completely normal. Continue adding soil, watering and draining until the hole is filled and level with the rest of the ground. Planting roses is probably the hardest part, so take pride in a job well done.

Caring for roses does not require as much upkeep as one would think. Roses are water-loving plants, but it is important not to overdo it. Water your rosebushes every day if the temperature is over 90 degrees, every two days if the temperature is 80 degrees, three days if 70 degrees, and so on. Additionally, rosebushes only need to be pruned occasionally. The best time is the spring. Prune relatively hard down to the stem and remove any woody stalks. Leave about 3-5 canes on the plant that are relatively equally spaced around the plant. Cut the canes at varying lengths between one and a half and two feet to encourage a healthy array of flowers.

As long as you are cautious and meticulous when planting your roses, water them regularly, and prune them seasonally, you will see healthy, beautiful blooms every year. Caring for roses can be an easy hobby and a relaxing task

Besides the way they grow, growing climbing roses is not unlike growing other types of rose plants. Climbing roses need about six to seven hours of direct unfiltered sunlight a day. Even climbing roses that are said to do well in the part shade still need about four to five hours of direct sunlight a day.
When planning to grow climbing roses in your garden, take into consideration the height or length that these types of roses will grow to. In order to protect your self you must be very vigilant when following links from email. The URL in the address bar should be a dead giveaway so always make sure your address bar is visible and always have a good hard look to see if the url is leading to the site's domain in question and not to some weird ip address or a fake domain. Be very vigilant here and look at the domain spelling they may have a very close copy of the original domain. If the URL doesn't start with a valid domain then don't go any further. Make sure to set your browser to detect phishing site by turning on automatic website checking. (Note; In Internet Explorer this setting is under Tools/Internet Option/Advanced tab/Phishing Filter this will not catch all of them) If you're not familiar with URL's and IP's to distinguish them then always access these sites from a new browser window or from a trusted bookmark or link.

If you realize that your email is a phishing email then report the fake buy forwarding it to the sites email address designated for this. For eBay this email is spoof@ebay.com and paypal it's spoof@paypal.com check your ecommerce site most of these have an account set up enabling you to communicate this information to the web master.

If you feel like retaliation might be in order then goto PhishFighing's web site. PhishFighting is an ingenious site that turns things around on the fraudster. The site was setup to flood phishering sites with fake information, both usernames and passwords. When you receive your next spoof email simply visit the site and enter the web address of the phishering site into PhishFighting.com. Every twenty seconds, a fake entry is submitted to the site making any genuine details of victims hidden between the hundreds of fake entries

Beinging aware is the most important step against phishers and sharing these tips will go a long way to eliminate this practice and help buildup buyer's confidence online.

There are almost as many new blogs created each and every day as there were in total before blogs became the media darlings they've become in the last five years.

There have been blogs about many interesting topics, ideas, and pursuits. There are blogs about politics, humor, movies, movie stars, shoes, home improvement projects; even hobbies such as knitting and bowling have made blog rolls.

The question becomes what are the reasons that people blog. The reasons vary from person to person, however, there are a few that seem to stand out among the masses of reasons and are among the most often stated. Here are five reasons people blog:

1) Bloggers enjoy feeling as though they've been heard. This is actually an important part of the blogging process. You have a message to share and an audience with which to share your message. Feedback from readers provides you, as the blogger, with validation and occasionally healthy debate for your statements, opinions, and beliefs.

2) Blogging allows bloggers to establish a virtual identity. For many this is their way of announcing their presence to the world. Not only are they able to make themselves heard, they are also able to be seen for a person that stands out among the many and is at the same time very much like the many. Hopes, fears, dreams, ambitions, talents, and failures define us all. Many of us use our blogs to expand on those definitions with which we measure ourselves.

3) Some people are wise enough to use their blogs for introspective purposes. By blogging we learn more about ourselves. By challenging ourselves to grow, expand, and experience new things, we are also inviting ourselves to look within for insights as to our own natures. We often learn about our own feelings, misconceptions, ideals, and values when we open mindedly study the thoughts and feelings of others, we learn so much more when we take the time to seek our own thoughts and feelings and not only put words to them but also to place them in context.

4) To learn. It sounds quite simple really and yet is something that so many people overlook as a valid reason for blogging. By studying the material that we write about, we often learn things we didn't know in the beginning. Every new nugget of information leads to another and then another.

5) To keep records of our history. Whether your blog is a politic blog that is recording current events in politics or a blog of your favorite bands, music groups, songs, books, etc. It is a record that can be kept for the future. It is an account of your history and a keeper of your memories.

Everyone has a different reason for blogging and some people actually have several reasons for blogging and none of those mentioned above are required. Your reasons for blogging are yours and yours alone and just as valid as any other. The best possible reason to blog, in my opinion, is to have fun and meet new people.

RSS - What is it?

If you have your own web site, or if you are a web designer, this article will be of interest to you. Web sites that are updated on a regular basis, such as news sites or content-driven web sites, can pose a problem for the user. It is cumbersome for the user to have to scan through every page of a web site in order to locate any new information that has been posted.

To solve this dilemma, RSS feeds were created. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. They are coded in XML file format. They contain descriptions of or links to any new information that has recently been posted on the web site. These may be links to articles, or links to certain pages of the web site where new content has been published. These feeds can be used for almost any purpose, such as listing recent company announcements for a company web site, or providing the scores for professional sporting events from the night before (RSS is used on a lot of sport-themed websites in this manner).

It is important to utilize RSS feeds not only to make it easier for the user to find new or updated information, but so that those who connect to the web site with a wireless device will easily be able to navigate through the web site. Web browsers installed on wireless devices are often not compatible with many elements of the HTML programming language. However, all web browsers are compatible with XML, because XML files are simple text files; XML merely defines and lists data, it does not force the browser to display it in a certain way. Thus, RSS Feeds, which are created with XML, can be viewed on any web browser, and can help the user to navigate through the web site, which is sometimes not possible with web sites created only with HTML.

RDF Site Summary was the first version of RSS. It was created by Dan Libby of Netscape in 1999. This version was known as 0.9. Later that same year, Libby combined 0.9 with an XML syndication format created by Dave Winer to create 0.91, which gave birth to the other versions that would follow it, such as 1.0 and 2.0.

One of the advantages of having an RSS feed is that if you have one, you can register it with an aggregator service. Aggregators search through feeds all over the net and display links to content on other sites so that webmasters can select content that is of interest to them and link to it on their website. This is a good way for webmasters to get sites to link to them, which is helpful because link popularity is perhaps the most important factor used to rank web sites on search engines. Also, some search engines will rank sites that have organized RSS feeds higher than sites that do not make use of them.

A feed is extremely simple to create. The syntax is not complicated. There are plenty of online tutorials that can teach you how to create one in only a few minutes. I recommend the World Wide Web Consortium web site (W3C). If you have a web site that contains a lot of content that is updated frequently, using RSS is not an option; it is a necessity.

Baby Boomers- Your Website Design ?

If you haven't thought of Baby Boomers in regard to website design, you're not on top of things.

The first of the Baby Boomer group are turning 60 and they are retiring. Why should you care? For starters, Baby Boomers are the largest segment of our population. That would be a lot of people to ignore. And their needs and desires are going to differ from those of the, up to now, very young computer users.

The first of the Baby Boomer group came to computers late. Although they might not have warmed to the idea of a computer driven world if left alone, a huge segment of this population has been forced into the computer world by their employers. Having gained some comfort with computers in the workplace, Baby Boomers have become much more likely to make computers a staple item in their homes.

Although I am aware of the dry statistics about Baby Boomers, much of what I am saying about Baby Boomers is from first hand observation.

I live near Palm Springs. The population in this area on a year round basis is an older population than that of most locals across the country. Many retirees have made this their full time home because of the climate. And, every fall and winter our population balloons when many retirees flow to our community in RV's for the season. Plus another large group who maintain winter homes here.

Why am I telling you all of this? Because maybe I know some things you may not have thought about. You see, I know, from first hand observation that these retirees, many of them Baby Boomers, bring lap top computers in those RV's. And many who have Winter homes here, have them equipped with desktop computers. I also know, that these Baby Boomers are not just sending email and jokes. They are surfing!

Baby Boomers are not sitting by the window watching the neighbors go by. These people are busy. They love to shop, they love to travel, they have money. Baby Boomers are going to spend some of their time online shopping and if you want your share of that market, you'd better be ready to meet their wants and needs in planning your website design.

That brings us to what this all has to do with website design. Bifocals! Reading glasses! Many people at or soon after 40 find that reading is not as easy as it used to be. Even many who have always had good vision and never before needed glasses find that reading can be difficult. Anyone designing a website should know that reading online is harder than just reading a book. Whether you do your own website design, or have a professional design your website, keep this in mind. Considering the following five factors could be important to the degree of success you have in your online business over the next few years.

2. Baby Boomers like to spend money.

3. Baby Boomers have money.

4. Baby Boomers will have time in the coming years to surf and shop.

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is something that webmasters try to implement on their websites, particularly if it's an online business or if they want a lot of traffic to their sites. Basically, SEO is developing your website in such a way that the search engines will display your site whenever someone does an internet search for specific keywords that you have craftily sprinkled throughout your pages. With the millions of websites out there, it can be very difficult keeping up with the competition so that your site is displayed in the top few search results, or even the first two pages of search results. This article will describe a few things you can do when optimizing your site for the search engines.

Firstly, there are different search engines that people use to find information on the net. The top three that you should be trying to optimize your site for are MSN, Yahoo, and Google. We all want to be at the top of the Google search listings, but it's a good idea to start with MSN and Yahoo, simply because it's usually quicker to get indexed and you still get a significant amount of your website traffic from these search engines. You will get more traffic from Google, but it's a little trickier and probably more competition there.

The next thing you want to do is come up with keywords for your website that you think a lot of people will do internet searches for. This is harder than it sounds and you have to be really careful to choose the right keywords and keyword phrases so that you can beat out the competition. Key Words - How To Use Them

One of the most accepted ways to catch the eye of a search engine spider is to optimize the number of keywords on a Web page. By keywords, we mean the core subject described on the Web page, or a particular word or phrase a person wants the search engine to find in cyberspace.

For the best SEO results, the keywords must be repeated at least three to four times within a page of text. There are no defined limits to the number of times the keywords can be used, but ideally they must not be used too often or too infrequently. For keyword phrases (combinations of several keywords), you must take care that the keyword phrases are repeated several times throughout the text, with each of word in the phrase appearing in the exact order every time. Additionally, each word in the keyword phrase must be used often and independently elsewhere in the text.

For example, if the keyword phrase is "SEO optimization," the whole phrase should be used a number of times in the text body, and the individual words "SEO" and "optimization" should appear spread throughout the text independently a number of times. As a rule of thumb, if the key phrase "SEO optimization" is used 10 times, the individual word "SEO" can be used 7 times and "optimization" can appear 5 times. This is not a set pattern, but it represents the general picture of keyword/key phrase distribution.

Another way to describe the number of keywords on a page is the term "keyword density." In fact, this is how Web designers explain the arrangement of keywords on a Web page. Keyword density denotes the frequency of times a keyword appears in the given text. It is usually expressed in percentages. For example, a keyword appearing 6 times on a page of 100 words has a keyword density of 6 percent.

Paying attention to keyword density is important because if the keyword density is too low, search engines pay scant attention to the page. Likewise, if a keyword density that is too high could invite trouble if the search engines regard it as spam and activate the spam filter for that particular Web page. If the latter occurs, Google will penalize the Web page and demote the Web site's ranking. Very simply, maintaining keyword density is like a tightrope walk, with very little room for error. It is hit or miss at its very best!

For optimal search engine response, keyword density on a particular Web page must ideally hit between 5 and 7 percent. In the case of keyword phrases, the total density of the individual words in the phrase must also fall within these limits. Anything more than 7 percent could be counterproductive, as it is detrimental to your SEO success and also spoils the readability of the page's content.

Another aspect of keyword use that could ratchet up your success with search engine response is the number of keywords used intelligently at the start of the page or in the headings. Search engines generally place more weight on keyword density at the upper portion of a Web page. Also, keywords used in the title tag, those in strong/bold font, and keywords or key phrases featuring links to other pages could influence search results phenomenally.

To conclude, keywords are vital for improving the rankings of any Web page. But you must use caution to use them often enough to positively affect the search results, but not so often that the spiders consider them spam. Once Google or other search engines penalize a Web page for its contents or ungentlemanly behavior, it becomes very difficult to regain the lost ground.

It seems all of the good ones are taken.

There are two basic strategies that people use.

Come up with a new domain name that isn't already registered.

Go after a domain name that was previously owned. (This is always the more expensive option because you are either buying a premium domain name, or buying an expired domain name on auction.) Right now, we're going to focus on the first method and try to come up with a new domain name that isn't already registered. This is the cheapest option, but it involves trial and error.

There are a lot of free online tools out there that can help suggest good domain name ideas. Some of these tools are run by the registrars (i.e. GoDaddy, NetWork Solutions, etc) and some of these tools are run by independent websites (i.e. MakeWords.com).

But they're all free. Basically, you type in the domain name you want. The online tool will tell you if the domain name is available, or it will suggest a list of other domain names that you might be interested in. They come up with the list by adding words before (prefix) or after (suffix) your search term.

For example, google.com is taken, but hotgooglestore.com is not. Some of the better domain name idea tools will use a thesaurus to come up with similar but different words. Although we probably wouldn't buy a domain name from Yahoo, we did like their domain name tool.

For example, redcafe.com is taken, but RedDiner.com is not.

MakeWords.com is a neat tool because they have an advanced keyword tool search that lets you choose different themes of words to try before or after your search term.

So, for example, their "action" theme tries different combinations of your search term and words like jump, shout, cut, etc.

Their colors theme adds words like red, blue, yellow... You get the idea. The best part of MakeWords is that you can create your own list of words to add to your search term. Just click on "list of affixes" at the bottom of the webpage and enter in a custom list of words that you like. The website will spit out a bunch of domain name ideas with your custom words added before and after your search term.

The worst part of MakeWords is that sometimes it'll tell you a domain name is available, but when you go to a registrar and try to buy it, it turns out that it's not available after all. Because this tool wasn't always reliable, we tended to stick with domain name generators run by the registrars.

How These Sites Make Money:

Domain Name Suggestion sites are free because they make their money when you decide to register a domain name with them.

Chances are, if you used GoDaddy's domain name tool, then when you find your dream domain name, you'll just buy it from them.

If you used MakeWords.com, you can choose which registrar company that you want to buy from, and they'll send you there with the click of a link. (If you buy from that company, then MakeWords.com will make a commission from the sale.)

Bottom Line: Use any site that you like to come up with domain name ideas. Forum marketing has recently been touted as a type of free, organic marketing. But because many marketers go into forums purely with the intention of marketing, their actions and attitude unwittingly causes exactly the opposite to its desired effect.

Forums, after all, are not marketplaces. But when used as such, the marketers' actions become offensive and will only inspire the wrath of fellow members and marketers, not to mention the moderators. Before a marketer can effectively market on forums, they must first understand that this type of marketing -- in order to be effective -- carries a certain degree of commitment, responsibility and respect.

To successfully market on any forum, the first requirement is to take a personal interest in the main topic of the forum. Not only does that mean visiting it regularly, but also developing a good relationship with both other members and the moderators, as well as taking an active interest in helping others. And, of course, it means abiding by any and all rules that exist.

By doing this, one develops a reputation and, since it is human nature to work with a trusted colleague, business will naturally develop from this. Because this type of marketing has already suffered some abuse, many forums have recently (and rightfully) developed stringent rules designed to protect their members from abusive or overly-aggressive marketing tactics.

One forum, for instance, grants signature files only after a member has created 100 valid posts; another has disallowed ads in sig files altogether. Marketers must respect that the purpose of a forum is to be a platform to exchange ideas on a given topic, NOT merely to advertise their wares. And, contrary to what might be thought, this is especially true in marketing forums, where EVERYONE has something to advertise. But by focusing on the topic and posting responsible questions and answers, a marketer's reputation will grow.

From this, the potential sales/sign-ups will naturally follow. Also, there are different types of forums, beyond the obvious topical types, of "marketing" or "special interest", etc. These are examples of one type of forum, referred to as "open forums." But there are also business and professional forums, which do not operate under the same rules and, more often than not, disallow any and all types of advertising or self-promotion.

Forums created to support the membership of a particular program are especially adamant on this topic and often request that all members check their adverts at the door. They ask this because advertising other programs -- especially to newer marketers -- can often compromise the very program the the forum was created to support.

With all that said, it is still possible to successfully market on forums. But in all cases, a pre-requisite for success is developing a good reputation and a good relationship and maintaining both. So, while this is a free form of advertising, it does require a certain amount of investment as far as time and energy are concerned, not to mention subtly and finesse. Below are seven practical suggestions to successfully market on forums.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK

Prior to joining any forums a certain amount of research is required.

1. Join relevant forums or forums that are in some way related to the promotion's primary sales market. For someone involved with a health related product, for instance, many types of forums -- from holistic medicine to mom's at home -- could apply. But to join a forum about punk music, for instance, would not be very productive.

2. Choose popular forums. Page ranking and the amount of active members are two good ways to check for this. This ensures that the forum will have enough members to remain active. Because forum marketing requires a certain amount of time invested, this also ensures that it will be there beyond tomorrow.

3. Choose forums that allow sig tags. If it's possible read the rules before joining and pay close attention to them. Your time is important, too. It is better to discover if a forum does not allow posts of any kind prior to joining.

YOUR FIRST DAY

4. Read and follow the rules. Every forum is different. Some allow links only to your own website. Others only allow a certain number of links. One forum allows no more than five lines in a sig file, for instance. Beyond .sig files, respect all the rules and be a model member. Complaints will also give you a bad reputation, whether you're aware of it or not.

5. Keep your signature tag short and update it regularly. Ideally, limit yourself to one link, preferably to your main website. It presents a much more professional appearance and is less offensive to members and the moderators.

6. NEVER, EVER create posts that are nothing more than an advertisement. This is an all-but universal rule and only displays the marketers lack of experience. At best, the post will soon be edited, and, if left on the forum (although an author can always delete their own posts), will only serve to hurt the marketer's reputation. At worst, it could be grounds for being banned.

Some forums have a special Advertisement Section, an area where all members can post ads, though they are usually limited to no more than one per day. If no such section exists, after being a member for at least a few weeks, a marketer can send a Private Message (PM) to the moderator(s) and politely suggest that an advertising section be added.

Point out that this would mollify any members from putting links in their .sig files, while allowing them a place to post their link. And, too, the advertising could become a service, since it would be at the members' discretion to view them. Of course, they may refuse, but at least you made the attempt.

7. Work the (for)room. That is, be an active member on the forum. Plan to spend at least an hour each day there and take the time to get to know the issues and other members. Depending on the forum's topic, both new and experienced marketers can introduce themselves well with intelligent questions.

As a marketer becomes a regular member, they will develop a (hopefully) good reputation and, without saying a word about their promotion, those interested in their product or promotion will approach THEM.

Mistake 1. Living Beyond Your Means

This is the real cause of your worry and stress. If you are spending more than you are earning, whose money are you spending? It's the credit card provider's or the bank's. The cost of this money is interest.

The way out - Make a Commitment to yourself only to spend within your income limits. Maybe you could increase your income (or cash in) by applying for more skilled positions, selling some of your unused articles or assets. Is the second car really a necessity? What about working out ways to make your hobby pay for itself?

Why not find ways to reduce your spending? How much would you save each year if you decided not to have the daily coffee shop coffee? Why not make your work lunch each day rather than buying it? Commit to only buying the necessities.

Mistake 2. Paying Off Less Than the Full Credit Card Balance Each Month

Get this debt under control and your life will be much easier. If you are like many others and only pay the minimum balance each month, the interest on the interest makes those purchases oh so expensive.

The way out - Find ways to put aside more money to apply to the credit cards. It will take time to reach this goal. However, if you don't make a start now you may never pay them off. This situation did not occur overnight and neither will the solution. But, by diligence and commitment you'll get there.

Mistake 3. Not Really Knowing Your Financial Situation

Before you can set meaningful goals and develop savings strategies you need to know your financial situation now. The best, proven and tested method by far, is by developing your own personal budget. This is not hard to do. Please don't give up now. Just follow these simple steps:

a) Find your latest credit card statements. Write down all the unpaid balances.

b) Are there any other unpaid debts (not home or car) then include these balances as well.

e) Minus the monthly spending total from the monthly income total and review the answer.

Writing your first ebook may seem like a daunting task. But like many projects, it won’t seem so bad when it’s broken down into manageable chunks.

Like many things in life, what often seems impossible can be attained with the right attitude and the right equipment. It could be a marathon run, climbing a mountain or finding parking space at the supermarket.

If you want to play golf, you will need clubs, balls and some practice. There’s no guarantee you will become another Tiger Woods but you will become a golfer.

If you want to write an ebook, you will need a computer, software and some directions. Assuming you have a computer and software or access to them, here are some directions.

Establish Your Reasons
Your reasons for wanting to write an ebook will have a major impact on your success. It may be for financial gain, promoting a business, advancing your career, education, self satisfaction or something entirely different. Whatever your reasons, write them down. It will help to motivate you if the going gets tough.

Choose Your Subject
There are countless subjects that you can write about. It’s wise to choose something you have an interest in or knowledge of. It is worthwhile spending time on this. The more you know about your subject, the easier it will be to write about.

Choose Your Title
After you’ve chosen your subject, you’ll need a title for the ebook. It’s worth writing down a few different ones before deciding on the one you’ll use. This will help to keep your focus and may give you some other ideas. The title should give a clear indication of the content in your book. A catchy title may help to sell it, but remember to balance this with clarity to keep it in context. I’ve written down two examples. Feel free to use them if you have a sense of humor.

Choose Your Audience
The subject and style of your writing will determine your audience. Decide who your desired audience will be. Age, gender, culture, social background and education are factors you may want to consider. What you write should be targeted at your desired audience.

Write Your Thesis Statement
Although it’s possible to write your ebook without a ‘thesis statement’, it is not recommended. If you are unfamiliar with this term, there are many sources available that will provide you with all the details you need. Unfortunately, there are some differences of opinion that may lead to confusion.

The ‘thesis statement’ deserves a separate article of its own but for now I have written a general definition of a thesis statement for ebooks. This may leave the door open for criticism but is a small price to pay if it removes some of the confusion. More importantly, it will give you a base on which to start. Only use it as a guideline. If you want a more specific definition, Google is a good place to start your search.

A thesis statement is a sentence or two written to clearly show the reason(s) for your ebook and what you expect to write about.

Although I have referred to this as a general definition, keep in mind that your actual statement should be as specific as possible.

Think of it as the foundation for your ebook. It should contain the following:

1) Your subject
2) Your opinion on the subject
3) A supporting reason for your opinion
4) The significance of 1), 2) and 3)

Create Your Document
Now that you have the foundation, you can begin writing.

A standard application like MS Word is a good choice.

While you are writing your document you can revise your thesis statement at any time up until it is published. This provides a good degree of flexibility.

Choose the format and layout of your document, including chapters, headings and introductions. Dependent on your subject, you may wish to add photographs, anecdotes or testimonials that keep the reader’s attention.

This is my next installment on selling on e-bay. hope you like it.
If you're involved as an affiliate for any product, you've probably wrestled with how you can sell the product on eBay.

After all, eBay offers you a massive potential audience of 147 million members. And people who read about your product will likely have found it by searching thus saying they are interested in the product area in which your product resides.

The bad news, however, is that there is no easy way to market affiliate products on eBay!

First of all, if you haven't heard of affiliate selling, here's a very quick description of how it works. Fundamentally, selling an affiliate product requires that you get interested buyers to click on a special link. This link takes the person to the product owner's sales page. More importantly, the link also contains your unique affiliate code - it is this code which ensures that sales made from your introductions are recorded in your affiliate account.

Finally, if your prospect purchases the product, it is the owner who handles product delivery and who also you with your sales commission payment.

On eBay, you could easily set up an auction saying how marvellous your affiliate product is. You will certainly attract a number of people who would be interested in buying.

The problem is, you have no legitimate way of selling it to eBay members! It's against eBay's rules to have a link in your auction page which takes your readers away to another website to make a sale.

Also, if you think about it, you don't have the affiliate product to deliver. There's no mechanism for you to make the sale on eBay, and deliver the product. If you recall, this is handled automatically by the product owner.

So here are two ways in which you can tap into the eBay market with your affiliate products.

1. The Simple System You create an auction which explains the benefits of the affiliate product you're promoting.

What do you offer on your eBay auction for the affiliate product? You sell the information on where to get hold of this superb product. And you sell these details for just one penny.

Whenever someone "buys" your information, you send them an email saying thank you for your purchase. You then explain they don't really need to send you a penny, and here is the link to the fantastic product in which they've expressed an interest. Of course, the link is YOUR affiliate link.

By the way, in your auction description page please think of a new angle for the product. You'll find almost everybody who is an affiliate for any popular product will be using the suggested sales material supplied by the product owner.

This means that you just appear to be one of many, and the standard sales pitch will be littering the internet. Your interested purchaser has probably seen some of these already. Why should they take notice of your one penny auction for the same product? Lace your auction description with personal and credible information about the product, and you will get some of those prospective buyers to go with you. Incidentally, you could find that your one penny auctions are removed by eBay.

After all, a one penny auction doesn't bring eBay very much by way of listing or final value fee. If this happens to you, you could try system 2 below, and you can also place your one penny auction on other auction sites such as Yahoo, Amazon, QXL etc

2. The Not as Simple System With this system, you need to do a little research before you launch your eBay auction for your affiliate product.

The objective here is to create a package of items which are related to your affiliate products, and which you auction at 0.99 cents or pence.

First off, you need to create a 2 or 3 page report about your affiliate product. Ideally this should be based on your personal experience with the product.

Failing that, it should be written in your own personal style. The key point is that it must include your affiliate link to the product.

The next step is to find other items for your "package", you do this by using Google search to locate related free products. Let's suppose you're an affiliate for an ebook which teaches how to paint and draw figures. On Google you would search for something like "figure drawing" free.

It took me under 10 minutes to locate the following freebies: Photographing Your Artwork (free ebook) 3D Figure Drawing Studio software (free trial) How to Sell Your Art (free newsletter) And there are many more you could unearth given a little more research time.

Be a little careful in your selection - you don't want to give away something which will compete with your affiliate ebook. Having found your items, what you now do is bundle them up and add them to your 2/3 page report.

You then create an auction which offers the whole package for 99 cents or pence. There's no way eBay can possibly object to this auction. As you can see, all it really takes to get your affiliate product in front of eBay's massive market place is a little creativity.

Make Money Tearing Up Old Books and Magazines and Selling Them on eBay.

For the past few years I've been tearing up old books and magazines, and selling them on eBay. Other people's "rubbish" is earning me $20 a time - sometimes a great deal more - every single day!

It's an easy business and items other people throw away can attract fierce bidding and incredible profits for me and other lucky sellers. We're selling prints and advertisements, crochet and woodworking patterns, recipe books and other niche market publications, alongside hundreds more totally different items, all taken from books, magazines and newspapers that are available in profusion and cost very little.

Let's start with old prints, they're incredibly good sellers, especially popular themes like: animals, sports (especially golf and horse racing), royalty, music hall artists, topographical (named locations) and children. Very early magazines contained lots of prints, the best being Illustrated London News, The Graphic, Sketch, Sphere, and all you do is remove prints carefully, trim the rough edges, package to protect and make them more attractive, then list them on eBay.

These tips will help you get started in this hugely profitable business:

Tip 1. Frame your prints for extra add-on value. Look for old (antique and modern) picture frames at boot and garage sales, flea markets and collectors' fairs, and make a point of visiting auctions where boxes of frames can be bought at a pittance.

Tip 2. Have black and white prints and engravings hand colored and mounted or framed to increase the value of even the most common and cheapest print.

Tip 3. Give a Certificate of Authenticity. This is simply a sheet of paper, with or without decorative border, which testifies that the print is original and taken from a specific source published on a particular date. The certificate is always taped lightly to the back of the print in the mount so that it cannot be removed and added to another print obtained elsewhere.

Tip 4. Make your listing for the print descriptive and include details that are likely to attract bidders and be sure to include words they might use to find products like yours.

Tip 5. Make sure your listings include age, theme, date and source of your prints.

Tip 6. If your original book is special, say a first edition, or a limited edition, say so in your listing. To people viewing your listings it might make the difference between a sale and giving your product the miss.

Tip 7. Take great care removing prints from publications. We tend to open the book midway and fold it back on itself, making it very easy to break or weaken the spine and therefore loosen the pages.

Tip 8. A great place to get quality mounts very inexpensively is on eBay itself. Go to the search facility, request a search for items locally (so many available it isn't worth looking long distance), and use keywords like: "mounts", "photo mounts", and wait for a nice selection of suppliers to appear, some selling items by auction, others offering "Buy It Now".

Tip 9. When you find a good supplier stick to that person and even buy their items outside of eBay without breaking eBay's rules of course. There's more to it than just prints, you have the pick of dozens of different products to sell, all from old books and magazines, and just a few minutes easy work. Did I say "work", this isn't work, this is exciting stuff!

Need Domain Name Ideas?

You've launched several sites, and coming up with a good domain name is always difficult.

It seems all of the good ones are taken.

There are two basic strategies that people use.

Come up with a new domain name that isn't already registered.

Go after a domain name that was previously owned. (This is always the more expensive option because you are either buying a premium domain name, or buying an expired domain name on auction.) Right now, we're going to focus on the first method and try to come up with a new domain name that isn't already registered. This is the cheapest option, but it involves trial and error.

There are a lot of free online tools out there that can help suggest good domain name ideas. Some of these tools are run by the registrars (i.e. GoDaddy, NetWork Solutions, etc) and some of these tools are run by independent websites (i.e. MakeWords.com).

But they're all free. Basically, you type in the domain name you want. The online tool will tell you if the domain name is available, or it will suggest a list of other domain names that you might be interested in. They come up with the list by adding words before (prefix) or after (suffix) your search term.

For example, google.com is taken, but hotgooglestore.com is not. Some of the better domain name idea tools will use a thesaurus to come up with similar but different words. Although we probably wouldn't buy a domain name from Yahoo, we did like their domain name tool.

For example, redcafe.com is taken, but RedDiner.com is not.

MakeWords.com is a neat tool because they have an advanced keyword tool search that lets you choose different themes of words to try before or after your search term.

So, for example, their "action" theme tries different combinations of your search term and words like jump, shout, cut, etc.

Their colors theme adds words like red, blue, yellow... You get the idea. The best part of MakeWords is that you can create your own list of words to add to your search term. Just click on "list of affixes" at the bottom of the webpage and enter in a custom list of words that you like. The website will spit out a bunch of domain name ideas with your custom words added before and after your search term.

The worst part of MakeWords is that sometimes it'll tell you a domain name is available, but when you go to a registrar and try to buy it, it turns out that it's not available after all. Because this tool wasn't always reliable, we tended to stick with domain name generators run by the registrars.

How These Sites Make Money:

Domain Name Suggestion sites are free because they make their money when you decide to register a domain name with them.

Chances are, if you used GoDaddy's domain name tool, then when you find your dream domain name, you'll just buy it from them.

If you used MakeWords.com, you can choose which registrar company that you want to buy from, and they'll send you there with the click of a link. (If you buy from that company, then MakeWords.com will make a commission from the sale.)

Bottom Line: Use any site that you like to come up with domain name ideas. But, when you're ready to buy, choose the registrar that offers the best domain name package and price, not the registrar that has the best domain name suggestions. Why? Because with domain names, the price ranges from $1.99 to $34.99 per year. And, not all registrars offer the same quality of service.

What's worse is there are no refunds on domain names. Once you pay, the money is gone. So, buyer beware.

Forums, after all, are not marketplaces. But when used as such, the marketers' actions become offensive and will only inspire the wrath of fellow members and marketers, not to mention the moderators. Before a marketer can effectively market on forums, they must first understand that this type of marketing -- in order to be effective -- carries a certain degree of commitment, responsibility and respect.

To successfully market on any forum, the first requirement is to take a personal interest in the main topic of the forum. Not only does that mean visiting it regularly, but also developing a good relationship with both other members and the moderators, as well as taking an active interest in helping others. And, of course, it means abiding by any and all rules that exist.

By doing this, one develops a reputation and, since it is human nature to work with a trusted colleague, business will naturally develop from this. Because this type of marketing has already suffered some abuse, many forums have recently (and rightfully) developed stringent rules designed to protect their members from abusive or overly-aggressive marketing tactics.

One forum, for instance, grants signature files only after a member has created 100 valid posts; another has disallowed ads in sig files altogether. Marketers must respect that the purpose of a forum is to be a platform to exchange ideas on a given topic, NOT merely to advertise their wares. And, contrary to what might be thought, this is especially true in marketing forums, where EVERYONE has something to advertise. But by focusing on the topic and posting responsible questions and answers, a marketer's reputation will grow.

From this, the potential sales/sign-ups will naturally follow. Also, there are different types of forums, beyond the obvious topical types, of "marketing" or "special interest", etc. These are examples of one type of forum, referred to as "open forums." But there are also business and professional forums, which do not operate under the same rules and, more often than not, disallow any and all types of advertising or self-promotion.

Forums created to support the membership of a particular program are especially adamant on this topic and often request that all members check their adverts at the door. They ask this because advertising other programs -- especially to newer marketers -- can often compromise the very program the the forum was created to support.

With all that said, it is still possible to successfully market on forums. But in all cases, a pre-requisite for success is developing a good reputation and a good relationship and maintaining both. So, while this is a free form of advertising, it does require a certain amount of investment as far as time and energy are concerned, not to mention subtly and finesse. Below are seven practical suggestions to successfully market on forums.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK

Prior to joining any forums a certain amount of research is required.

1. Join relevant forums or forums that are in some way related to the promotion's primary sales market. For someone involved with a health related product, for instance, many types of forums -- from holistic medicine to mom's at home -- could apply. But to join a forum about punk music, for instance, would not be very productive.

2. Choose popular forums. Page ranking and the amount of active members are two good ways to check for this. This ensures that the forum will have enough members to remain active. Because forum marketing requires a certain amount of time invested, this also ensures that it will be there beyond tomorrow.

3. Choose forums that allow sig tags. If it's possible read the rules before joining and pay close attention to them. Your time is important, too. It is better to discover if a forum does not allow posts of any kind prior to joining.

YOUR FIRST DAY

4. Read and follow the rules. Every forum is different. Some allow links only to your own website. Others only allow a certain number of links. One forum allows no more than five lines in a sig file, for instance. Beyond .sig files, respect all the rules and be a model member. Complaints will also give you a bad reputation, whether you're aware of it or not.

5. Keep your signature tag short and update it regularly. Ideally, limit yourself to one link, preferably to your main website. It presents a much more professional appearance and is less offensive to members and the moderators.

6. NEVER, EVER create posts that are nothing more than an advertisement. This is an all-but universal rule and only displays the marketers lack of experience. At best, the post will soon be edited, and, if left on the forum (although an author can always delete their own posts), will only serve to hurt the marketer's reputation. At worst, it could be grounds for being banned.

Some forums have a special Advertisement Section, an area where all members can post ads, though they are usually limited to no more than one per day. If no such section exists, after being a member for at least a few weeks, a marketer can send a Private Message (PM) to the moderator(s) and politely suggest that an advertising section be added.

Point out that this would mollify any members from putting links in their .sig files, while allowing them a place to post their link. And, too, the advertising could become a service, since it would be at the members' discretion to view them. Of course, they may refuse, but at least you made the attempt.

7. Work the (for)room. That is, be an active member on the forum. Plan to spend at least an hour each day there and take the time to get to know the issues and other members. Depending on the forum's topic, both new and experienced marketers can introduce themselves well with intelligent questions.

As a marketer becomes a regular member, they will develop a (hopefully) good reputation and, without saying a word about their promotion, those interested in their product or promotion will approach THEM.
